A discussion thought

Okay, I'm not sure if I should start this discussion or not, since I haven't done the interview, but it's been rolling around in my head, and I've been waiting to write it down.

My question is about Harry Potter fanfiction. What is your opinion on it? Do you write fanfics, and if you do, what kind do you usually write?

To me, Harry Potter fanfics are a double edged sword. On one hand, they can be really good, and on the other people can get really silly. Please, don't get me started on pairings. No, I do not think, nor will anyone ever convince me, that Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy would EVER get together. I'm sorry if this is against what many of think, but in my opinion, EW. Still, on a whole, I'm a fan of fanfics, and seeing as she doesn't discourage them, I think its okay to write them.

While I've actually never written a Harry Potter fanfic until recently, with the help of azabeth99, we started a story about two girls as they go through Hogwarts and interact with some of the actual characters. I'm a big fan of this kind of writing, though many people snub these kind of thinly veiled self insertion fics/Mary Sue fics. Okay, I can get just as annoyed at Mary Sue fics as the next person, but for the most part, I think they are enjoyable. (For those of you wondering, a Mary Sue fic is where a new and original character is added to the story that instantly becomes the starlet princess/prince of the story.)

So, comments, disagree, agree, have no clue what I am talking about?
